Could always care less about fashion until I discovered the Shanghai fabric market. Next thing you know, BOOM, I’m a fashionista creating entirely new types of clothing like the suisey(half suit. half jersey. all class.) .
and the linny(lax penny/linen hybrid)
In the fabric market the world’s your wardrobe. They have everything from leather and satin to velvet and wool in a huge assortment of colors and patterns. It’s pretty fun being able to fully customize a few articles of clothing every time you need to re-up your wardrobe. Surprisingly cheap too. Made to order dress shirts will usually cost between $15-$25, cheaper than off the rack ones back in the states. As you can see in the video, it’s a great spot when weddings roll around as well. If you have a friend who lives in China there is really no reason why you should have to pay $250 or more to rent a tuxedo every time you’re in a Wedding party when you can just buy a tailor-made one at the fabric market for $150 or less. When I hooked all the groomsmen in my friend’s wedding up with an outfit it came out to $80 per person. Not too shabby.
Disclaimer: Don’t hit me up to make you a suit in China. I’m busy.
